1st Sexy and Sensual Bachata Contest

CATEGORIES

 

1) AMATEUR: From this cathegory are excluded all instructors, stage performers or dancers with more than 3 years of experience in any kind of dancing.

2) OPEN:  This category is open for any couple.

 

 

 

 

COMPETITION

1) Preliminary: (more than 6 couples) Competitors will go through 1 round of social dance (free style) competition before being short-listed for the final round.

2) Finals:  (maximum 6 couples) The finalists will go through 1 round of social dance (free style)  and 1 round of routine based performance and winner will be selected.


* Lift/stunt is defined by a condition whereby both feet of the dancer are raised off the ground at the same time for duration of 1 bar. Lift/stunts are permitted only in routine based performance.

 

 

 

 

PERFORMANCE

1)  The duration of each routine must be between 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes.

2) The song chosen must consist of at least 80% of  Bachata genre, 20% Other genere will be allowed.

 

3) The performance is done by 1 couple (man and woman), and is not for duos (man-man or woman-woman).

 

* A good quality MP3 must be sent to salsaoradea@yahoo.com  as soon as possible and you should bring as a backup 1 High Quality AUDIO CD (with only your choreography track, correct cueing and pitch) in case of problems on the day. The DJ will not make any adjustments to your track. Each CD must be titled according to the following:
-Competitor’s Name:
-Dance Category:
-Artist and Song Title:

 

ADJUDICATORS

     A panel of qualified and experience judges from international countries will judge the competition for all categories.

JUDGIGN CRITERIA

 

Social Dance Round (free style)

Competitors will dance in a group to a medley of bachata songs and judged on their social dancing skills.
If there are high number of competitors per category, the Social Dance Round will serve as elimination round to select semi-finalist and finalists.
 
1. Timing (25%)
- Competitors are required to dance to the correct tempo/beat for Bachata

2. Partner Chemistry (10%)
- Competitors are to display good partner chemistry and lead/follow moves effectively

3. Level of Moves (15%)
- Competitors will be marked based on the level of difficulty of the moves to be done while social dancing; the harder or more complicated, the more marks awarded

4. Music Interpretation/Musicality (30%)
- Competitors will be judges on how well they can interpret the music as they dance socially, e.g. breaks, change in pitches, instrument changes, etc

5. Misc (20%)
-Other Misc areas where competitors can gain extra points are costume, styling and crowd reaction

 

Routine Based Round

Competitors will perform their choreographed routine to a maximum of 2 mins.

1. Timing (20%)
- Competitors are required to dance to the correct tempo/beat for Bachata


2. Partner Chemistry (15%)
- Competitors are to display good partner chemistry and lead/follow moves effectively
- This also includes good showmanship on stage

3. X-Factor (10%)
- The extra thing that makes one competitor stand out from the rest

4. Choreography (35%)
- Competitors will be awarded points for innovative and strong choreographies

5. Misc (20%)
- Other misc areas where competitors can gain extra points are costume, styling and crowd reaction

1)  All entries must be submitted online to
salsaoradea@yahoo.com by 26th September 2010.

2)  Registration for any category is 100 ron / couple (100 ron = 24 euro)

Couples participating in the competition have the Full Pass of the event included

 

Accomodation for participants 100 ron / day / double room in a 4 star hotel only for people registered here until 23 SEPTEMBER 2010
